Wacky Wednesday

  • Woke up, groaned at increasing # of Alpha blockers. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  • Sorted through email.
  • Look, only 2 meetings today! zomg
  • Asked for multiple new BZ privs so I can do Cluster-y things.
  • Hooray! People responding to Feature Harassment mails. Update Feature List. Feel even more better about things.
  • Sent harassing mail to Mystery Person who submitted Eclipse Indigo as a feature, and filed the ticket with FESCo without having it go through feature wrangler first (grrr.) Dude has only signed the FPCA, is not in any other groups, and feature is at 0%. I’m guessing that’s getting dropped. Grrr.
  • Received mail back from BZ-land asking me what privs I want.  Apparently I was not clear enough. Now I realize that I have no clue what it is that I actually want, other than, “To have the same thing the person before me had,” which is frightening in and of itself.
  • Continue to look at blockers. List is not getting shorter. Dig around and poke people.
  • Ask co-workers about “what it is that I actually need.”  Obtain long list of things it could be. Oy.
  • Every-other-week phone meeting with my awesome boss.
  • Started sketching out presentation for Linuxcon next week.
  • Bright spot in the day: Read Linux.com article by Brian Proffitt about “The 2011 Top 7 Best Linux Distributions For You.” Fedora 15 is listed as the Best Desktop Distro, and RHEL is listed as the Best Linux Enterprise Server. In the immortal words of Charlie Sheen: BI-WINNING!
  • Go/No-Go meeting. It’s a no-go. Sort through proposed blockers. Have to bail early because of school function, apparently they think nobody works at 2:30 in the afternoon. Thanks to adamw for wrapping up meeting in my absence.
  • Ship out not-going mail. Pout.
  • Fix an errant translation schedule date. Start putzing around updating the schedule to new dates; .tjp file is not cooperating. Frustration ensues.
  • Discover that Spot is on my flight to Vancouver. Whee! Together, we shall endure the customs line.
  • Back to presentation.  Only having good feelings about beginning. Need to think more.
  • Back to schedule. A break clearly didn’t help my brain. WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS THING? Decide to take it up in the wee hours of the morning.

Random trivia: A number of folks have asked me who my boss *is* – is it Spot, Jared, Max/Harish? Answer: NONE OF THE ABOVE! I’m actually in a group with other Program Managers (my official job title), another of whom is our pal John Poelstra, all of whom do scheduling for other various Red Hat products and community projects.

  1. Eclipse Indigo has already happened but we didn’t think it was worth it making another feature for a major version upgrade. I don’t know who made that feature page 🙂
